We need to make public testimony at council meetings more transparent, as well as more accessible for residents of Seattle.
When someone testifies at a Council meeting they should provide the following in addition to their name: where they live and the name of their employer. Quite often people are paid for their time to testify on behalf of their employer without divulging the fact. This information should also be required and available for public viewing from anyone meeting with the Mayor or Council Members, regardless of where the meeting takes place.
We need to be respectful of the time folks are required to take out of their day or time off work in order to testify publicly. I would like to see a video conferencing option for public testimony for Seattle residents, provided their identify has been confirmed in advance.
